As Spider-Man: Homecoming is about to go into production, more and more details have been rolling in the last few months as casting news is being released almost daily. Here’s what we know so far:

This part is still under wraps, but Marvel main man Kevin Feige has confirmed that it will not be another origin story (thank God).

(SPOILER ALERT) If you’ve seen Civil War, you know that Peter lives with Aunt May in an apartment building this time instead of a house. You should also know that Tony Stark is aware of Peter Parker’s secret identity, and helps build him a better Spidey suit.

Rumored titles for the new film were Spider-Man: The New Avenger and The Spectacular Spider-Man.

Characters & Casting

Spider-Man/Peter Parker: We should all know by now that England born actor Tom Holland is playing the titular character of Spider-Man/Peter Parker. He made an appearance in Captain America: Civil War as a set-up for the film.

Aunt May: The lovely Marisa Tomei will be playing Aunt May, a decidedly much younger (and hotter) take on previous versions.

Tony Stark: Robert Downey Jr. is reprising his role as Tony Stark / Iron Man for the the seventh time, his exact involvement in the story is unknown, but he could possibly be a mentor/father figure to Peter Parker.

Manuel: Tony Revolori, from The Grand Budapest Hotel, will be playing a character named Manuel, possibly as a friend for Peter.

The Vulture The biggest surprise is that Michael Keaton will be playing the villain “The Vulture”, which was just recently announced by Deadline magazine. The Vulture first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #2, and is the wall-crawler’s first real supervillain.

Kenneth Choi has just been confirmed as a new cast member, playing Peter Parker’s high school principal.

Actress, dancer and singer ZendayaLaura Harrier and Michael Barbieri are also confirmed.

Donald Glover has recently signed on. Best known for his role as Troy on Community.

Martin Starr is the newest member of the cast. Currently playing Gilfoyle on HBO’s Silicon Valley and starred in cult classics Freaks and Geeks and Party Down.

Logan Marshall-Green is in talks to play a co-villian with Michael Keaton. Green starred in Ridley Scott’s Prometheus.

Hannibal Buress is the newest member of the cast, his role is unknown.

15-year old Ghana-born actor Abraham Attah joins the cast. His only acting credit is Netflix’s ‘Beasts Of No Nation’.

Michael Mando has recently signed on in an unknown role. Mando’s known for playing Nacho on AMC’s “Better Call Saul” and the villain Vaas Montenegro from the video game Far Cry 3.

Bokeem Woodbine is the most recent cast member and is to play an antagonist along side Michael Keaton and Logan Marshall-Green. Woodbine’s most recent role was on FX’s Fargo.

Filming is slated to begin in June 2016 in Atlanta and New York City.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is to be released on July 7, 2017.
